The discovery of gold at Sutter’s Mill in 1848 resulted in a population boom in local towns within two short years. The news spread quickly and lives were changed forever. Just as James W. Marshall and John Sutter could not keep their amazing discovery of gold a secret, so it was for those involved at the time of Jesus birth. Ordinary shepherds experienced a life changing event when Jesus was born in a nearby town. The community was changed forever.
