Historically, women have been oppressed and viewed as inferior to men. In many cultures today, women have equal respect, power and authority as men. Both are educated together, work together in the same career fields, can hold governmental positions or lead companies and other organizations. In our American culture, the issue has been settled but within the church there remains a discussion. How do we interpret 1 Timothy 2:8-15 regarding women in leadership in context of the whole of Scripture?
