Idolatry is more common than one might think in our present-day culture. In Mexico people have images and idols in their homes while in America, idolatry is seen more in the obsession with sports teams, pop stars or other forms of materialism. Just consider the vast amount of time and money spent on tickets and fan gear. Even though the Israelites saw miracle after miracle while being delivered out of Egypt, they still fell into idol worship rather quickly. How can we avoid idolatry and remain pure before the Lord?
