In our relativistic culture where everyone claims their own truth, we need discernment to identify what is actually true. The Gospel of John reveals that the Word - who existed before time, created all things, and is fully God - is the source of true light. Unlike popular culture's emphasis on finding inner light, spiritual illumination comes from outside ourselves through relationship with the Word. Life and light originate in Him, not within us. We are called to be messengers pointing others to this true light, just as John the Baptist did. In a world where truth seems debatable, we find solid ground in the One who is truth itself.
