Jesus told His disciples the night before His crucifixion that it was actually better for them that He leave. He was going away so that the Holy Spirit, the Advocate, could come to them. Unlike Jesus during His earthly ministry, the Holy Spirit is not limited to one place or one time. He is accessible to all believers, everywhere, always. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and guides believers into all truth through Scripture. His guidance is not passive. It requires us to open the Word, listen, and respond. The destination He is guiding us toward is being heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.
