He Who Sent Me Is True

Counterfeits are everywhere, and the best defense against deception is not cataloging every possible lie but knowing the truth so well that anything false becomes obvious. In John 7, Jesus teaches during the Festival of Tabernacles and exposes three key counterfeits: seeking personal glory instead of God's glory, prioritizing outward rule-keeping over a heart surrendered to God, and trusting tradition over what Scripture actually says. The crowds missed the Messiah standing right in front of them because they had traded firm biblical truth for popular assumptions and oral tradition. On the greatest day of the feast, Jesus declared Himself the fulfillment of everything they were celebrating, offering living water through the Holy Spirit to all who believe. When truth confronts us, there are only two responses: submission or rejection. The call is straightforward. Know God's Word so thoroughly that anything contrary to it stands out immediately.
