Many Christians struggle to balance serving God through action and developing an intimate relationship with Him. The story of Mary and Martha illustrates this tension - Martha was busy serving while Mary chose to sit at Jesus' feet. Both aspects are important, but our doing must flow from our being. The Greek word ginosko describes the intimate, experiential knowledge of God that goes beyond head knowledge. When we learn to truly know Jesus in our private prayer time, not just asking for things but simply adoring Him, it transforms our service and worship. The goal is to serve from a place of deep relationship rather than mere duty.
