The word baptism, or baptízō, is a Greek word that means to dip, to dye, to immerse or to wash. By getting baptized, a person is identifying with God. They are announcing to the world that they have placed their faith in Jesus Christ to forgive their sins, they are in relationship with Him and will spend eternity in heaven with God after they die.
