God is aware of the devastation and hurt caused by those in power who abuse their authority because of greed and the desire for power and domination. Jonah disobeyed God’s instruction to proclaim God's message because he hated Nineveh and the Assyrians for the destruction they brought on Israel and the rest of the world. We also can become angry at evil people or develop hatred towards them, especially if our friends or loved ones were hurt. Like Jonah, we often want judgement for the wicked. But what does God really think about evil people who deliberately hurt and destroy innocent lives for personal gain?
