Understanding His Heart Of Joy

November 20, 2022

One of the greatest tragedies in human history centers on how we misunderstand God. Maybe you’ve questioned God, doubted Him or misunderstood Him as you faced hard situations and tough times. “Does God care?” “Why didn’t He intervene?” Yet in the book of Jeremiah, we see that God rejoices in bringing His people back from captivity, delights in giving His people a new identity and blesses them abundantly. God rejoices in doing good for His people even though they are sinful.

Understanding His Heart Of Jealousy

November 13, 2022

God’s emotions are clearly revealed in His interactions with people throughout scripture. Although jealousy may seem like an odd way to refer to God, He refers to Himself in this way numerous times. How can God have a character quality like jealousy that seems so negative or bad? Is this emotion difficult to understand in describing a holy and perfect God?

Understanding His Heart Of Concern For The Wicked

November 6, 2022

God is aware of the devastation and hurt caused by those in power who abuse their authority because of greed and the desire for power and domination. Jonah disobeyed God’s instruction to proclaim God’s message because he hated Nineveh and the Assyrians for the destruction they brought on Israel and the rest of the world. We also can become angry at evil people or develop hatred towards them, especially if our friends or loved ones were hurt. Like Jonah, we often want judgement for the wicked. But what does God really think about evil people who deliberately hurt and destroy innocent lives for personal gain?

Understanding His Heart Of Care For The Hurting

October 30, 2022

God enjoyed a close relationship with man at creation and wanted to have His family by His side. He entrusted creation to mankind, giving them dominion and authority to rule. God wanted them to enjoy from His abundant goodness without hurt, suffering and pain, yet He also gave His children free will. With that, sin entered, along with pain and suffering. Just as sin produced hurt and separation from God in the garden, it also breaks our relationships with other people. It’s impossible to go through life without being hurt or without hurting another person. How do we best respond?

Understanding His Heart Of Love

October 23, 2022

We live in a world that is desperate to experience deep and unconditional love yet is greatly confused about what the emotion really is. Our secular culture tends to view the love of God in the same way that popular music, art, and literature do. Yet the Bible says God’s love is far different and far greater. God’s heart of love chooses and pursues His people. Just how great and awesome and powerful is God’s love and how do you receive it?

INTERNALLY STRONG / EXTERNALLY FOCUSED

When we say Internally Strong this is what we mean:
Moving closer to Jesus  which happens as we seek to: know Him and His Word, be transformed into His likeness, do what we are made by Him to do and connect with others in meaningful relationships in the way He designed us.

When we say Externally Focused this is what we mean:
Engaging others around us, locally, regionally and globally in personal, small group and corporate action to bring the whole Gospel to the whole person.
